Blue Bluff Nature Preserve is located on 33
acres in Morgan County. This steep
210-foot shale and siltstone bluff is part of a
rugged, forested slope and upland area above the
West Fork of the White River. It is at the
southern edge of the Wisconsin glaciation of the
Ice Age and offers a beautiful panoramic view of
the White River as well as the flatlands to the
north.
The mixed hardwood forest has an abundance of
ferns and spring wildflowers. Of special
interest is the presence of a rare
purple-flowering raspberry shrub (pictured
above).
