The Frank Ratcliff Memorial Forest is a
57-acre property owned by the Central Indiana
Land Trust. This hardwood forest is filled
with Beech, Sugar Maple, Tulip Poplar, Basswood,
Red Oak, and Sycamore trees.
Surrounding a pond on the northern half of
the property is a thick stand of Eastern White
Pine. On the southern half of the property
is a stream with a smooth black New Albany shale
bottom, laid in the Paleozoic era 250 million
years ago. Many native wildflowers also
grace the floor of this forest.
This property is located in just off of US 50
in Jennings County, southeast of Indianapolis.
